The composition of the Russian men's national biathlon team in the season 2018 - 2019
The team consists of eight athletes. Here is a complete list of them:
- Anton Shipulin;
- Alexander Loginov;
- Anton Babikov;
- Maxim Tsvetkov;
- Evgeny Garanichev;
- Dmitry Malyshko;
- Petr Pashchenko;
- Semyon Suchilov.
There are several changes from the previous season. Alexey Volkov, Yury Shopin and Matvey Yeliseyev are missing in the new composition of the Russian national biathlon team 2018 - 2019. Their places were taken by Semyon Suchilov, Peter Pashchenko and Dmitry Malyshko.However, Matvey Eliseev is in the application of the backup team. Alexey Volkov can also return to the national team. For this, he needs to show good results in the qualifying tournament to be held in November 2018.
Anton Shipulin - the first star of the Russian men's team. The main hopes of the coaching staff and fans are pinned on him. Last season Russia took the 3rd place in the standings of the Nations Cup. In many respects, our country owes this result to Shipulin. I would very much like his teammates to try to play no worse than their star partner!
The guys will be trained by the legend of the Soviet biathlon Anatoly Khovantsev. At the new post, he replaced the tandem of Ricco Gross and Sergey Konovalov. Khovantsev is a very experienced specialist. In 2010 - 2011 he had the lead of the women's national team.
The composition of the Russian women's biathlon team in the season 2018 - 2019
The women's team also consists of eight athletes. Here is its composition:
- Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht;
- Uliana Kaisheva;
- Daria Virolainen;
- Anastasia Egorova;
- Margarita Vasilyeva;
- Svetlana Mironova;
- Larisa Kuklina;
- Anastasia Morozova.
In the new version of the main team there was no place for Victoria Slivko, Irina Uslugina, Olga Podchufarova, Irina Starykh, Tatyana Akimova. Only Daria Virolainen and Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht remained from the previous squad. The remaining participants of the 2017/18 season, except for Victoria Slivko, are not even in reserve.
Apparently, drastic changes are associated with poor results. In the final ten total score of the World Cup 2017/18, there is not a single Russian woman. Unfortunately, the domestic women's biathlon is not the first year in stagnation. There are young talents. But they are not able to grow to a really high level.
The most experienced in the new team are Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht and Daria Virolainen. It is they who will become the locomotive of the national team at the biathlon competitions.
Changed and coaching staff. The main mentor was Vitaly Naritsin. Although this post was originally supposed to take Valentin Pokhol. But in the end, plans changed. The head coach was appointed Vitaly Naritsyna. Nikolay Zagursky, Pavel Lantsov and Leonid Guriev will help him.
