Seattle Storm Unveils 2015 Schedule, Pride Game with Lynx
The 2015 Seattle Storm schedule, as announced by the WNBA on Thursday, features two trips from reigning WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury and Western Conference rival Minnesota Lynx.
“This season our schedule will be demanding, just like every season, especially playing in the Western Conference,” said Storm head coach and general manager Brian Agler. “It does have more balance in regard to home and away games throughout the longer duration of the season. We are looking forward to the challenge of building this team for 2015 and beyond.”
The Storm will tip off its 2015 campaign at home against the Los Angeles Sparks and Candace Parker at KeyArena on Saturday, June 6. The first 3,000 fans will receive a free t-shirt for opening night; all Storm Facebook followers will receive the chance to vote on the t-shirt design leading up to the game.
The reigning WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury and Brittney Griner visit KeyArena twice, on Sunday, June 21 for a Father’s Day celebration and again on Friday, July 10. The 2014 WNBA MVP Maya Moore and the Minnesota Lynx, who have not won a game in KeyArena since September 10, 2013, return to Seattle on Thursday, June 25 for Pride Kickoff and Friday, September 11 for the annual Hoops for Heroes game.
“We are looking forward to a strong slate of theme nights, including Pride, Hoops for Heroes and Native American Heritage night,” said Alisha Valavanis, Seattle Storm President. “We are very excited to have a game against Phoenix on Father’s Day, with the opportunity to celebrate that evening with our Storm fans.”
Pacific Northwest natives playing in the WNBA will return to KeyArena throughout the season. Shoni Schimmel (Mission, Oregon) and the Atlanta Dream come to town on Saturday, July 18 for Native American Heritage night. Courtney Vandersloot (Kent, Washington) and the Chicago Sky take on the Storm on Friday, August 14, and Briann January (Spokane, Washington) returns with the Indiana Fever on Friday, August 21.
NBA TV will televise more than 40 games during the regular season. Local Seattle broadcast information, the full promotional theme night schedule and full NBA TV schedule will be released at a later date.
All Storm home games on Saturdays and Sundays will tip off at 6 p.m., with all remaining games Tuesday through Friday starting at 7 p.m.
