What Russian does not like a good steam room? That's how you could paraphrase the words of the classic. And indeed, there will be few individuals who would not like our bathhouse. Many owners of country houses dream to have it on their site. To implement this desire is not so difficult, especially if there are available tools and some skills of construction work.
In the process of arranging a bath before the master, more oftenall, there are two important questions. First: what kind of wood is preferred for finishing the walls, the second: what kind of stove to put in the steam room. Today we will talk just about the latter.
Homemade stoves for the bath, made fromhand tools, are very popular among Russians. No wonder, because in this case the owner has an excellent opportunity to build a heater, even if it is not very good, but cheap and practical.
Most often self-made metal furnaces forBaths are made from old steel barrels, in which the bottom is cut. Capacity is installed above the hearth on supports of thick rods or rails. Inside, the barrel is laid out with a layer of bricks to increase the service life and prevent burning out.
Two thirds of the capacity is filled with stones, the diameterwhich is selected in the range from 50 to 150 mm. Their total weight is not less than 50 kilograms. It should be noted that it is not recommended to put natural material in such homemade stoves for a bath. Stones are best purchased in specialized stores.
Over the metal stove, lay the lid, which, if necessary, easily shifts. To get steam, it is enough to splash water on the heated stones.
The chimney pipe at one end is buried in the stones, the other is taken outside.
The hearth for such a furnace is laid out of a single red brick. Other materials for this do not fit, because they warm up unevenly and from this collapse too quickly.
To install the base of the furnace, use a mixture ofcement and sand in the ratio of one to three. The depth of the bookmark is not less than half a meter. At the floor level, there is a sheet of black steel, slightly larger than the perimeter of the finished hearth.
The masonry is performed usingclay-sand mixtures. To obtain a more plastic solution, use a sieve with apertures of 1.5 mm x 1.5 mm. Dry sand is sieved through it. Clay is best used for the frozen, which overwintered in the open air.
Separate elements of the hearth, such as grates, flaps and doors are installed together with the masonry.
This stove-heater is good in that it providesuniform heating of air in the room, warm streams go from floor to ceiling. Stones, when smoke passes through them, reach a temperature of 800-900 degrees. Steam at the same time turns dry.
Note that homemade ovens for a bath of similarthe designs are characteristic of the Russian steam room. Specialists call them batch heaters. In contrast to these, continuous-acting furnaces are closed metal boxes, in which fine gravel is used.
A batch heater has a number ofshortcomings. First of all, this is the duration of heating and cooling. Among other things, on the stones when smoke passes through them, there remains a soot of soot and they have to be changed more often.
Stoves of constant action are easier to operate, but the quality of steam is more suitable for a sauna.
Modern man perceives a bath as a placefor rest and relaxation. Therefore, often, in this structure there is not only a therma, but also a dressing room, rest room, washing room. In this case, heating must be provided for each room separately. For example, a stove-fireplace for a bath can be installed in the rest room (with access to the washing room), and a stove in the steam room.
